  • Wood working center
  • Drama and Costume Play
  • Giant sandbox and water area

Sessions

Grow Garden Grow

Week 1, June 9-12

Get out the gloves! Get out the shovels! Get out the seedlings! Let’s plant a garden and watch it grow! We’ll learn about flowers, fruits, and vegetables. We will study some of the garden’s creepy crawly friends and foes. With art, songs, clay, and stories we will discover gardening in exciting new ways! Participants will take home a potted friend!

Fort and Fantasies

Week 2, June 16-19

Join in the adventure of the outdoors! Hop on the wagon, make a raft, and get on board with the tall tales of the American Frontier. This week we will explore the “lost art” and the adventures of building shanty shacks and forts from any and all materials. Costumes take us back to a land before our time as we explore forgotten materials for art and construction. Imagine the days when you could turn anything into a work of genius.

Go Crazy like Jackson Pollock

Week 3, June 23-26

Pollock broke the mold and transformed the image of modern art with his innovative approach to painting. We seek to break the image of what art can be, what can be used to make art, and who is an artist. From balls to brushes, from splatter to brush strokes, children will find the creativity within as they experiment with, out of the box, some say crazy, art techniques. Messes will ensue so dress appropriately!

Monet’s Garden

Week 4, July 7-10

Nature moves us all when we take the time to look and listen. In this sensory week we will use the gardens to connect us deeper with our earth. We will explore clay, wire, wood, fiber, and drawing mediums in our outdoor studio classroom. Science and music will come into play as we learn about the elements and find inspiration in sound!

Harvest Hoedown

Week 5, July 14-17

Tomatoes, raspberries, peas, and strawberries—Summertime brings healthy garden foods straight from the farm to the table. In this week of farming fun we will learn nutrition while creating culinary delights, from freezer jam to pizza sauce! Keep an eye out for special guests!

Water Wonders

Week 6, July 21-24

Water—H2O! A gas, a liquid, and a solid! Water is magical in its ability to sustain and inspire all. From splashy arts and crafts, to wet and wild science, water becomes a tool of expressive fun and thought! Prepare for a wet week of adventure by bringing swimsuits and sunscreen!
